Hello,

I use an own board and get an error when trying to test the JTAG connection from the CCS ( Version: 6.1.3.00034).

The error message is:

-----[An error has occurred and this utility has aborted]--------------------

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-233' (0xffffff17).
The title is 'SC_ERR_PATH_BROKEN'.

The explanation is:
The JTAG IR and DR scan-paths cannot circulate bits, they may be broken.
An attempt to scan the JTAG scan-path has failed.
The target's JTAG scan-path appears to be broken
with a stuck-at-ones or stuck-at-zero fault.

Is the SOC broken?

Voltages and reset signals are applied in the correct sequence and Voltage levels are o.k.

I think the first time I tried to connect via JTAG the processor was held in reset. Can that attempt have damaged the device?

No, that shouldn't be a problem. The device is held sometimes in reset prior to jtag connection and initializing the gel files.

Definitely, try what'Yordan suggested. Looks like you got the same error as the wiki page states.

Hi Alex,

this morning I found that the JTAG TRSTn signal was not connected to the SOC and had only a pull-up on the JTAG connector side.
With connecting the signal I was able to connect with the XDS200 to the A15 cores.
The other cores are held in reset, but I think this is correct as they have to be released by the A15 cores. Is this correct?

That is correct, you can take them out of reset using the gels script when you are hooked up to A15.
