Booting problem In AM335x (Beaglebone)EVM using SDKv7.00 with microSD card.

Hello,

I am new to beaglebone and AM335x. I am using following wiki link to set up my sd card (prebuild kernel images and uboot loader) and boot the beaglebone black -

I ran the create-sdcard.sh script successfully and inserted the SD card in SD card slot. After powering on the BBB no boot sequence is showing on the LCD connected to it. I tried all the combination of on board USER/BOOT switch but nothing worked.

Also I don't want to write the eeprom but I want to boot BBB from SD card.

Hi Aditya,

Do you have access to a serial-to-USB cable? You will need this to read the debug messages, that are displayed on UART0 of the BBB. This will help you debug why your system hangs.

Can you let me know which binaries are on the /boot partition of your SD card.

Hello Sir,

Thank you very much. As per your suggestion I bought the serial to USB cable, I again formatted and flashed the SD card. I ran the setup.sh script to set up the environment. After rebooting, I was able to see the kernel boot up process with putty/minicom session. So system is up and running with uboot loader.

But previously with angstrom OS(by default os on EEPROM) touch screen display was also booting to show login terminal screen and GNU stuff. But with this (linux prebuilt image) OS touchscreen is not booting. I am using 4D system's LCD7 cape on BBB. Is their any patch that I need to run Or I need to recompile kernel to add touchscreen support.??

Hi Aditya,

BeagleBone capes are not supported by our SDK by default. You will need to implement this yourself. Which SDK version are you using?

Please also note that BeagleBone capes are supported by the BeagleBone community: http://beagleboard.org/Community/Forums

Hello Sir,

I am using SDK-evm 7.00. I am new to linux so I am not sure about writing the drivers by myself. I will check the BBB forum if I get any clue.

You will most probably only need to modify the device tree file: <kernel_dir>/arch/arm/boot/dts/am335x-boneblack.dts and rebuild the device tree binary (make dtbs) afterwards. No drivers are to be written.

Hello Sir.

Changing the device tree didn't work for me. So followed this lab to make by lcd7 up.

Now I need to interface lcd 4' (A1 rev) to beaglebone. I didn't see any branch of patch for this. Could you please guide me in this aspect. I dont know how to write a patch. For using lcd 7 patch I downgraded my sdk to 06.00.00.00.
