Hi All,

We are using AM437x IDK where i need to boot u-boot from QSPI flash.

From the below link we followed the procedure to build and flashing of u-boot to QSPI.

But still we are not able to boot the u-boot from QSPI, through SD card its working fine.

(TI SYSBIOS we are able to boot from QSPI, but we need u-boot from QSPI )

Is there any modifications we need to do for booting u-boot from QSPI ?

Hi,

I will ask the factory team to check this. However please note that the Linux SDK targets support for the AM437X GP EVM, not the AM437X IDK.

Hi Biser,

You mean AM437X IDK does not have Linux SDK ?

W are able to boot the u-boot from SD card and flash the u-boot to NOR through QSPI.
Is the u-boot.img generated from the u-boot source is compatible with both AM437X GP EVM and AM437X IDK ?

Hi Biser,

Thank you for your quick reply.

We are using VxWorks 6.9.
So need bootrom.bin to be loaded on to NOR flash in IDK.
By using qspi flash writer ti sysbios application we are able to flash to NOR flash.
But the board does not boot from QSPI.

Do we need to load any x-loader before our bootrom.bin or we need to configure in bootrom ?
Our assumption is initial code of bootrom.bin will be executed in place of QSPI. Is our assumption is correct ?

In your u-boot source code, can you look in boards.cfg and see if you have an configuration that builds u-boot to boot from qspi. In the SDK u-boot then entry is called am43xx_evm_qspiboot. I support the SDK so I can tell you what we do for the EVM so you'll have to adapt to the IDK. We build a u-boot that will boot from mmc:

make am43xx_evm_config

make

Copy MLO and u-boot.img to the mmc card. Then we

make am43xx_evm_qspiboot

make

Copy u-boot.bin to the mmc card. Boot from mmc and write u-boot.bin to qspi.

Hi Steve,

We are doing a custom board based on AM4377 processor.
Our ram same as TI AM437x IDK but size is less.

We need to modify MLO and uboot to change ram configuration and QSPI pinmux.
So can you please tell us where the MLO code in located in the ti-boot.

Please can you share us the latest souce code link of ti-uboot supporting QSPI boot.
Please reply as soon as possible
