AM335x LCD with 540x960 resolution (portrait mode)

Dear Sirs,

is there any way, how to configure AM335x to support display with 540 pixels/line? There are very common displays now, available with qHD portrait resolution, but it seems, that LCD interface of AM335x supports only horizontal resolution dividable by 16 (Register RASTER_TIMING_0).

Hi Emil,

It's true that the PPL value in RASTER_TIMING_0 is a multiple of 16. I can't think of any workaround to this. Maybe 544 pixels could be sent per line, but I cannot say how the display will behave (drop them, overwrite first 4 pixels, get out of sync - I don't know).

Hi Biser,

thanks for your quick answer.

We will try to clear it with display vendor, but I haven't seen a valid image there neither with 528 nor with 544 pixels/line. The whole thing is more complicated as used display has MIPI interface, so there is Solomons SSD2828 RGB to MIPI bridge in between.

We are using AM3352 at the moment, but planning to use AM3354 (with Graphics Accelerator SGX530), can this change our chances to output 540 pixels/line?

Yes, this complicates things a lot indeed. I'm not familiar with this bridge, but in my opinion the only chance is if you are able to configure it to somehow translate the AM335X LCD output. There is no difference regarding the LCDC between AM3552 and AM3354. The whole AM335X family has the same LCDC.
