VTT requirement for DDR2 interfacing with AM335X

I am using a DDR2(single IC) device with AM335X. Please let me know if i need VTT supply arrangement for termination. As in AM335X datasheet there is no mention of VTT in DDR2 section. I have also check TI reference schematic there also it is not shown to use VTT for termination for DDR2. In fact in one of the reference schematic for DDR3 also VTT termination is not used.

  • Vtt termination is necessary only for DDR3, and as you noticed if only one DDR3 device is used it can be omitted if proper simulation is done on the layout. For DDR2 only serial termination may be used if necessary. Please follow the guidelines in section 7.7.2.2 of the AM335X Datasheet Rev. H for DDR2 design.
