BEAGLEBK: Emulator for Beaglebone Black

Part Number: BEAGLEBK

Hello,

I am contemplating getting a Beaglebone Black to play with (mostly bare metal code) and am really keen on having a proper Debugger/Emulator up and running. I have been reading up a bit and researching for an affordable option and have come to the following conclusions. It would be great if someone could confirm that I am on the right track before I end up buying hardware that I cannot do much with.

- The newest MSP432 launchpads are equipped with a XDS110 Emulator. The performance page shows a xfer rate of around 100 kB/s or 6 MB/min which is fast enough for testing small bare metal programs. I have already used the emulator on a MSP430 launchpad to program and debug another board with a MSP430 and that worked without any issues. Can i expect the same ease of implementation for a BBB and a MSP432 launchpad?

- Are there any hardware or software restrictions to be considered? On the hardware side I am aware that I have to solder a special connector and that I need an adapter board for the regular 0.1 inch raster.

Best Regards,

Shailesh
