F2812 On Chip Flash programmer CC3.3 Not working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Clean Install of CC3.3 and the latest & proper drivers from spectrum digital for the 510PP+ jtag.

SDconfig sees the pod and I can connect properly to the target from CCstudio.

When I go to use the F28xx On Chip Flash programmer, I select the correct items in the FLASH settings, chip type, flash api, etc.

The chip is not reported as unlocked, and I can program the target via other means (see below)

When I then click program, the F28xx On Chip Flash programmer dialog greys out and then nothing happens.  No progress is shown in the bottom window.

The F28xx On Chip Flash programmer dialog remains greyed out, even if I close it and re-open it and reconnect to the target.  I have to restart CCS to try again.

I have confirmed the plugin is installed correctly using the component manager.

Now, I have another laptop that is configured with CC3.1 and it works fine with the same pod and target.  I can also program the flash using the serial boot loader

This all started because I am upgrading my laptop at work, so I thought I would also upgrade to CCS 3.3 at the same time.

 Any help much appreiciated.

  • Some additional information that might be helpful in understanding and isolating the problem:

    - What is the specific version of CCS you are using, as displayed in Help->About?
    - What is the version of Onchip Flash Programmer. You should be able to find this by opening the Component Manager, expanding Texas Instruments Inc, and look for F28xx On-chip Flash Programmer. Highlight it and check the version in the right pane.
    - Does it hang in the erase or program phase. Are you able to Erase only?

It may be that you have an older version of the Flash programmer and need to update. If have a full version of CCS that allows updates, you could go to Help->Update Advisor->Check for Updates  and see if there is a newer version of the FLash programmer to update to.

  • Thanks for the response Aarti,

Specific version of CCS is 3.3.38

Version of F28xx Flash Programmer from component manager is File Version: 5.91.0.311 (1.12.5)

Unable to erase only.  As before, the dialog box goes grey, with no messages in the flash diagnostic window.

I will look into the update, but I can't believe that "out of the box" (and otherwise clean install) of CCS3.3 can't program a F2812.

Is there any way to uninstall/re-install the existing plugin?

  • I tested the Flash programmer with XDS510PP+ emulator and F2812 eZdsp and did not have any problems. My version of CCS, however, is the latest (3.3.82.13) and the Flash28xx version is 5.92.0.316 as listed in the CCS Component Manager. I don't recall any issues similar to what you are reporting with the Flash programmer, however since the one that works for me is newer that the one you have, I would suggest looking into updating CCS if possible.
