How to make the demo hua.out to the hua.bin in the C6657?

I want to boot from the norflash.I found that the hua.out is about 5MB (release) and it was too big for the EVM6657L. And I found that in the "C:\ti\mcsdk_2_01_01_04\tools\program_evm\binaries\evm6657l" ,the nor.bin is the binary file of hua.out . So I want to know how to convert hua.out to the nor.bin , which can make it much smaller?

I have try this method . But after it was converted, I found the ".bin" file was about 2GB!! What's the problem?

Hi NIng,

Are you trying to boot this on your own custom hardware? what is the size of the NOR flash on the hardware?We may need to consult with with some compiler experts to be able to help you reduce the size of the boot image so can you let us know what size would work on your hardware.

Hi Ning,

Followed the below steps to Convert the .out file to .bin format:

1. Modified the hua demo(added debug message) and rebuild the project. After successful build the hua_evmc6657l.out file is generated with more than 6MB size.

2. Use strip6x.exe to convert .out file to .bin format. "strip6x.exe -p -o <Output file name .bin> <Input file .out>"

Example : C:\ti\C6000 Code Generation Tools 7.4.0\bin>strip6x.exe -p -o ..\..\..\Bin\nor.bin ..\..\..\Bin\hua_evmc6657l.out
