What do I get from choosing a DSP for JPEG image high resolution (13MPixels) applications

Hello everyone,

I am looking for different implementations for image processing in JPEG format with very high resolutions (up to 13MPixels).

I have looked up DSPs and can't seem to find information about the highest resolutions they are able to reach in JPEG encoding and decoding.

How are these DSPs better than FPGA/ ASSP in terms of cost and ease of implementation (complexity & speed)? Are there any concrete comparisons available?

edit: I forgot to say that timings aren't a concern yet (for the moment, but having an idea of resolution vs encoding/decoding time would be nice ^^)

Hi,

Ptovided datasheet do not mention any limits w.r.t image resolution.
Corresponding User guide mentions is default value of 2000 for both IIMGENC1_Params.maxHeight and IIMGENC1_Params.maxWidth. It does not mention any maximum, minimum limits

Can the codecs do 4096 x 2160. What are the maximum and minimum limits

Yes, these codecs can do 4096 x2160. There are no maximum and minimum limits.

Please let us know if you are facing any issues in decoding and encoding 4096x2160.
