What do I get from choosing a DSP for JPEG image high resolution (13MPixels) applications

Hello everyone,

I am looking for different implementations for image processing in JPEG format with very high resolutions (up to 13MPixels).

I have looked up DSPs and can't seem to find information about the highest resolutions they are able to reach in JPEG encoding and decoding.

How are these DSPs better than FPGA/ ASSP in terms of cost and ease of implementation (complexity & speed)? Are there any concrete comparisons available?

edit: I forgot to say that timings aren't a concern yet (for the moment, but having an idea of resolution vs encoding/decoding time would be nice ^^)
