Connecting XDS560 PROTRACE to evm6678L

Not sure if this is the right forum, but didn't see anything more appropriate.

I just received a Spectrum Digital XDS560 PRO TRACE.  I'm using CCSv6 and the evm66678l board. I followed the instructions that came with it, attached the MIPI60 to TI60 adaptor and plugged it into the board, aligning the pin labeled 1 on the adaptor with the pin labeled 1 on the evm.  Note that the TI60 side of the adapter is not keyed, so it could plug in either way.  The (very sparse) documentation from Spectrum Digital does not specify how to plug it in.

When I try and connect and start a debug session it says:

IcePick_D: Error connecting to the target: (Error -183 @ 0x0) The controller has detected a cable break far-from itself. The user must connect the cable/pod to the target. (Emulation package 5.1.635.0)

Did I plug it in the correct way?

Is a gel script required to use this connection?  (I have been using the USB V100 connection, and it does not need a gel script)

Anything else I'm doing wrong?

Thank you in advance.     Mike
