dm385 custom board not working!!!!!!

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM385, DM388

Hello All ,

During custom board bring up activity .We are facing following issues.

Hoping your valuable guidance in this regards.

Following are the details.

Project : IP Camera
SOC : DM385
RDK : Ver 3.8
1. While doing board bring up, initially boot prompt was not coming.
During debugging of boot loader , it was learnt that while initialing of sata pll, boot loader was crashing.
We have found that we did not connect the pin no M28 and N27 of  DM385 (or DM388) SOC to 1.8V. They are  floating in our design.
Hence we have disabled sata pll init and we got the boot loader prompt.

After getting the prompt, we moved forward to start Ethernet interface.
We are using MII interface between SOC and PHY (LAN8700).
After verifying all connections and signals on board, it was learnt that there is no activity from SOC side.
In datasheet , it is mentioned that G/MII, RMII and RGMII derive clock source from SATASERDES PLL

We need your view on following questions so that our board bringup activity can proceed further.

Q. 1 As we did not connect the pin no M28 and N27 of  DM385 (or DM388) SOC to 1.8V and not initialized sata pll in boot loarder, will it impact the EMAC functionality of SOC?

Q.2  What are other impacts on SOC functionality if  M28 and N27 pins are not connected to 1.8 as mentioned in the datasheet ?

1)   Q.3  How to get the Ethernet clock for the MII mode from video PLL or some other clock source as we are not using the SATA clock in our design ?

2. We have also observed that, boot sequence was not correctly followed by SOC. If we connect BMODWPINs[4-0] to force MMC then also it was going into NAND and vise-verse. We have connected 10K pull up in our design.

Q. 1 What could be possible cause for this? Is 1K pull up sufficient?

 Thanks in advance.
