Hi,

I am using DM8148 custom board with adv7604 video decoder. I am able to capture video using by modifying the adv7604 driver using the v4l2 framework. I am using the load-hd-v4l2-firmware.sh script.

Now I want to capture video using the OMX framework. I have the following questions

1) How to change the TVP component (OMX.TI.VPSSM3.CTRL.TVP) and create adv7604 component?

2) what is the minimum memory requirement to run the OMX framework?

The dm814x_hdvpss.xem3's source code is under NDA.

You should change the HDVPSS firmware.

Hi Margarita,

I am having a little doubt after going through the website "https://developer.ridgerun.com/wiki/index.php/Gstreamer_pipelines_for_DM816x_and_DM814x" .

Here it is saying that "omx_tvp element performs the initialization of the TVP7002 hardware". Is that so or the TVP7002 initialization is performed by HDVPSS firmware?

In EZSDK we have two software stacks for HDVPSS. One uses V4L2 drivers for controlling HDVPSS this stack initializes TVP7002 using tvp7002.ko. Other stack uses Media controller binary for controlling HDVPSS hardware. In this stack tvp7002 is control through Media controller binary.

If you should use other external decoder different from tvp7002 you could use v4l2 for capture. For example like tvp1547 driver is already available as a part of Linux kernel under $Kernel/driver/media/tvp514x.c. You just need to hook this up to V4L2 capture driver by following this user guide:
