AM1808: Using SATA SSD GEN3 drives

Expert 6310 points
Part Number: AM1808

Dear Team,

our customer is planning to change AM1808 to a different platform due to issues with SSD SATA GEN3 drives. They are using M.2 SSDs, where there are usually no speed limiting capabilities (i.e. to limit the speed to GEN2 and make it operable with AM1808). Thus, the workarounds provided in the Errata are NOT sufficient.

The drives that have been tested:

ADATA SX300 non-working
ADATA SP300 OK
Intel SSD525 series OK
Intel SSD530 series non-working
Transcend TS128GMSA370 non-working
Kingston SSD 120GB SSDNow MS200 non-working
Samsung 850 EVO 120GB non-working

As some of the working models are becoming obsolote, it is getting more troublesome to keep the AM1808.

Do we have any new workarounds to solve this problem?

Thanks and regards,
Bartosz
