OMAP-L138: Can I use McASP AFIFO in any size?

Hi Champs,

The McASP AFIFO size is 256-byte each for read and write. In the case of two data pins, it's 32 32-bit words per serializer.
So, my question is the size is fixed or not. Can I change the size? For example, I'd like to set it to 16 32-bit words per serializer in the case of 2 data pins due to minimizing latency.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

I believe this could be set via the Read/Write FIFO control registers. See Section 25.1.45 Write FIFO Control Register (WFIFOCTL) through Section 25.1.48 Read FIFO Status Register (RFIFOSTS).

Hi,

According to the TRM, the WFIFOCTL.WENA bit is for the Wite FIFO enable. The WFIFOCTL.WNUMDMA bit field is for the Write word count per transfer and must equal the number of McASP serializers.

So, do you mean that I can set McASP AFIFO in any size via WFIFOCTL.WNUMEVT bit field?

Sorry, I misunderstood the initial question. Those bits are for number of words to transfer.
It seems that the fifo size cannot be set by the registers. I wasn't able to find registers capable of doing that in the TRM..

I'm not sure, but I think I could use the bit field as the FIFO size equivalently. I'm going to evaluate it more.
