TPS2549: Whether we can check the charging status through USB port to TPS2549

 Our customer want to know if we can check the charging protocol (DCP,CDP or SDP) through the USB by the Host Device and how?

    Hello David, 

    There is not a pin output from the TPS2549 that outputs the charging mode. The charging mode is determined by the CTL input pins so you should know what mode the device is set up for by the CTL inputs. Table 2 from the datasheet summarizes the charging mode options below.

    David,

    The TPS2549 will not output a signal indicating which charging mode it is in.

    The DP/DM lines will have the charging scheme specific voltage on them. You could connect two GPIO's from an EC to the DP/DM lines to determine the charging scheme based on the voltage level of each line. However, this would require attaching a large stub which could add interference and signal degradation and is not recommended.
