We use IPC-3.30.00.09 on omap-l138, linux version is 3.17.0-rc1-08099-gf8252fa-dirty (git from davinci-linux), but failed when run modprobe da8xx_remoteproc da8xx_fw_name=messageq_single.xe674. Log file is in forum. Could someone help us to solve the problem?

Hi Kent,

Unfortunately TI does not have any OMAPL138 SDKs that have yet been updated to that Linux version. So we can only provide you with limited guidance in this case.

The last version of Linux that IPC officially supports on OMAPL138 is Linux 3.8.2, according to the IPC Install Guide: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/IPC_Install_Guide_Linux#OMAP-L138. Note that there was a set a patches in the \linux\patches\3.8.0 directory that needed to be applied in order for remoteproc and rpmsg to work (there is one named 'rpmsg-socket.patch' at the top level that is particularly important), so it would be a good idea to study them and try to apply them. The last version of IPC for which we have performed validation on OMAPL138 and Linux 3.8.2 was IPC 3.22.00.05, so you may consider starting from that setup to ensure you have something solid on which to base your development work.

In the IPC Install Guide: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/IPC_Install_Guide_Linux#OMAP-L138, the patches apply to commit id is 595ab716fc6e648b7dc79a58a01917ebb67b9508, the kernel of this commit id is 3.10, not 3.8.2. So which version is the best one that we can use?

The kernel that i clone from git://gitorious.org/linux-davinci/linux-davinci.git, kernel version (commit id: 595ab716fc6e648b7dc79a58a01917ebb67b9508) is 3.10.

But i clone form git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/nsekhar/linux-davinci.git, the kernel version (commit id: 595ab716fc6e648b7dc79a58a01917ebb67b9508) is 3.8.0. The same commit id is different kernel version!

I will test IPC3.30.00.09 on the 3.8.0 version kernel.
