Starterware/AM3352: Which StarterWare do you recommend?

Genius 5785 points
Part Number: AM3352

Tool/software: Starterware

Hello,

I'll evaluate AM3352 using StarterWare. There are three types of StarterWare, which one do you recommend? I need to use IAR compiler. I have ICE2 board to use for other project.

1. StarterWare v2.0.1.1 (standalone software)
This software has project environments of IAR.

2. StarterWare v 2.1.1.1 (ISDK v 2.1.3.2)
This software doesn't have project environments of IAR.

3. StarterWare v2.1.1.1 (PSDK-RTOS v3.2.0.5 / PDK v1.0.5)
This software looks like similar to No.2 StarterWare. But it doesn't have USB and Graphics libraries even though maybe I won't use them. Do you plan to provide them in the future?

Regards,
Kazu

  • Kazu,

    I would recommend #3.

Please note that there won't be any enhancements to the Starterware package moving forward.

However, the examples generated as part of the pdkProjectCreate.bat script will continue to be developed. The steps to generate the examples are part of http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Rebuilding_The_PDK under "PDK example and Test project creation". They will show up at C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_5\packages\MyExampleProjects once the script is run. The examples should have a BARE_METAL macro that enables the examples to use RTOS or not.

    Hope this helps.
