uartconsole RTOS example not working

I've unsuccessfully tried to get the uartconsole RTOS example working on both my TM4C123G & TM4C129 development boards. I'm using PuTTY connected to the Stellaris Virtual Serial Port. Has anyone else had a similar problem and had it resolved? I've verified that a UART_write is taking place.
