TPD1E10B06: Protector application

Part Number: TPD1E10B06

Dear Sir / Ms.

We introduce TPD1E10B06 to the customer design for their product Trackpoint (Pointing stick) module.

Because the data sheet only mentions it meets test specifications to IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 ESD 30KV and IEC 61000-4-5 Surge.

Customers want to know if the TPD1E10B06 meets ISO7367-2 and ISO16750-2 test specifications and what is the difference between ISO7367-2 and ISO16750-2?

  • Hello,

The ISO7637-2 and ISO16750-2 standards are for large transients seen on the battery lines of vehicles. Both standards define many pulses that can be seen from operations of the car.

The TPD1E10B06 cannot work for these pulses as it is for ESD events not very large transients. For that amount of power dissipation you would need SMC or SMD TVS diodes. Also the TPD1E10B06 is 6V breakdown voltage when the normal operation of the car battery is at 12 or 24V lines

    Regards,

    Cameron

  • Hello Cameron,
Would you please tell us what ESD Components can fit ISO7637-2 and ISO16750-2?
what is the difference between ISO7367-2 and ISO16750-2?
  • We do not currently have any solutions that can handle all of the transients in those standards.
Please email me at c-phillips@ti.com if you have any more questions.
