TMDS181: TMDS181 failed HF2.1 of HDMI2.0 compliance test

Part Number: TMDS181

HI team

TMDS181 was fialed at HF2.1 of HDMI2.0 compliance test.

Would you please let me kwnow what setting could imorove  with stand alone mode

or register conrolt with I2C ?

HF2.1 of HDMI2.0 is required to signal  level is at least  150mV, but TMDS181 could not meet at thier configuration.

*Using TI EVM(EVM setting is default)

* Test configuration is

    HDMI Input --- TMDS181EVM --- HDMI Tx/Rx --- HDMI to HD Base T --- TMDS Rx --- HDMI Tx --- HDMI Out --- Monitor

*HDMI 2.0 Compliance Test reulst

Only failed at HF2.1, othre were OK.

 TMDS181:170mV
  Other IC  :  70mV

・In case of only TMDS181EVM.
   120mV, test result is OK.

So, TMDS181 is reguried to adjust settting for thier configuration.

Would you please let me know.your suggetion ?we need to fix by tommorow.

  I would appreicate your support.

  best regards K.Kanao

  • Hi Katsuhiro,

If the EVM is passing HF2-1 standalone, then, the problem should be located in another channel/cable/device in the chain, is it passing without TMDS181?

First, disable SIG_EN to make sure the device is not going to stand by mode.

You can set a fixed EQ using I2C mode in register 0x0D, so, you can manually set a high EQ.

Now, if the problem comes from the TMDS181 output, you may improve this signal by adding pre-emphasis and tweaking the output voltage swing from Vsadj.
