Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

Hi Team,

My customer considers to use TPS65982 for note PC application(next model).
I provided TPS65982EVM to him and was asked the following.

Does TI have any track record to confirm Type-C PD function connecting TPS65982EVM with another Type-C PD device?
If the answer is yes, could you tell me what the Type-C PD device is used specifically?
My customer wants to know it as a reference.

I found the following app note but it shows connecting two TPS65982 EVMs.

  • Greetings,

Looks like you originally posted this in the "Other Interface Forum" and noting we have a dedicated Forum around USB Type-C and more questions now here. If you are ever not sure where to post a question or still needing a reply, you can always ping me.

Now that I've moved this thread here, someone from that team can jump in and assist and as well be sure to post any related future questions in this Forum.

  • Yaita-san,

The USB Type-C and PD ecosystem does not have many products available for purchase on the web yet.

I can confirm that we are testing the TPS65982 solution with all existing products on the market and there is a diverse ecosystem of products available to us at all sanctioned and customer-sponsored "plugfests" for companies developing USB Type-C and PD products. Both the USB I/F committee and VESA (DisplaPort spec owner) have sponsored Plugfests that we have attended.

TI, and the TPS65982 specifically, have an excellent track record in the market for USB Type-C and PD so far, and we confirm all of our results using Lecroy and/or Ellisys USB PD Analyzers which are the industry standard for analyzing USB PD communication.
