design with TPD12S520

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD12S520

Planning on using the TPD12S520 HDMI ESD protection device for ADV7610 HDMI receiver. Previously used (2) RCLAMP0524 and (1) RCLAMP0504.

Can I connect LV_SUPPLY pin to 5V_SUPPLY and have the device operate entirely at 5V? or is it required for LV_SUPPLY to be lower than 5V_SUPPLY?

While researching this, I have found a number of users to be confisued, so would anyone be able to review this portion of my design to confirm I have it right?

Thanks.

  • Denis,

I am moving your request to the ESD/EMI forum so that you will receive appropriate support for the TPD12S520. Thanks.

    Best Regards,

  • Hey Denis-

The LV_SUPPLY pin on the TPD12S520 controls the internal voltage level shifters on the CE_REMOTE_IN, DDC_CLK_IN, DDC_DAT_IN, and HOTPLUG_DET_IN lines. Tying the 5V_SUPPLY pin to the LV_SUPPLY pin should function perfectly, however there will be no level shifting as the reference voltages are the same. If level shifting isn't necessary for your application, then tying the pins should work!

Let me know if you have any follow up questions, and thank's for your interest in TI ESD Protection!

    Thanks,
