TCA9554A - About “tvd(data)”

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9554A

Hi Team,

We found difference between “Old datasheet (SCPS196A)” and “New datasheet (SCPS196B)”.

So, we would like to know the reason why "tvd(data)” is changed.

And, does this change adversely affect this device?

Could you please let us know it if you have any information?

[changing points]

- "tvd(data)”at the standard mode is changed from 300ns(min) in the Old datasheet (SCPS196A) to 3.45(max) in the New datasheet (SCPS196B).

- "tvd(data)”at the fast mode is changed from 50ns(min) in the Old datasheet to 0.9ns(max) in the New datasheet.

And, we have one more question.

" tvd(data)" is not listed in the “I2C interface load circuit and voltage waveforms”.

What time does it show?

Regards,

Kanemaru

  • Kanemaru-san,

The "I2C Interface Timing Requirements" are required inputs to the device for SCL and when SDA is generated by the Master.

They are defined by the I2C specification and all devices that transmit I2C data need to meet these requirements. The TCA9554A also needs to meet these requirements when it transmits data on the SDA line.

All devices that receive I2C data need to acknowledge when an I2C Master meets these requirements and devices that buffer I2C signals need not interfere with these requirements.

The device's performance has not necessarily changed but the spec which defines the communication protocol has changed, and our datasheet (and test procedure) has been updated to reflect this change.

  • Hi Brian-san,

    Thank you for the information!
