TCA9543A INT pin floating

Hi team,

In datasheet description : If unused, interrupt input(s) must be connected to VCC through a pull-up resistor.

Is there any concern or problem if we float the input and output of INT pin?

Thanks.

  • Hello Prescott,

You really need to connect the unused INT inputs to VCC through a pull-up resistor. The reason for this is floating CMOS inputs can cause for large amounts of current to be consumed internally (since the pins aren't held at a known voltage). If you are not using any of the INT inputs (none of the INT inputs are used), you may tie all the pins to ground if that's easier. If you need to use any of the INT pins though, the unused ones must be tied to VCC through a pull up. You should NOT leave any of the INT pins floating.
