Additional connection of MAX232 (or similar IC) to TMDSDOCK28335

Hello!

Should I additionally connect MAX232 (or similar IC) to TMDSDOCK28335 to permit an SCI transmission between TMDSCNCD28335 and a serial port of a PC?

  • Michael,

I am not familiar with that evaluation module. However the features list says that RS232 signal are available on the EVM. Therefore you do not need a MAX232. The RS232 signals from the EVM can be connected to the PC serial port.

    Features
    • TMS320F28335 Digital Signal Controller
    • Small form factor - 9cm x 2.5cm
    • Standard 100-pin DIMM interface
    • F28x analog I/O, digital I/O and JTAG signals at DIMM interface
    • Isolated RS-232 interface
    • 5V power supply required
    • Standalone JTAG emulator required for debug. Sold separately.
  • Thanks for the reply, Ronald! I have controlSUITE installed and I found the schematics for the F28335 controlCARD here: C:\TI\controlSUITE\development_kits\~controlCARDs\CC2833xHWdevPkg\. When I opened "F28335 controlCARD ZJZ Schematic [R2.2].pdf" I noticed that MAX3221ECPW is used as RS-232 line driver.

    Best regards, Michael.
