DP83867E: Does ENHANCED_MAC_SUPPORT affect the receive latency?

Part Number: DP83867E

To use the SFD feature of the DP83867E PHY one has to configure ENHANCED_MAC_SUPPORT=1 in the Receive Configuration Register (RXFCFG). I fear the reason is that the latency will be affect as pattern matching will likely add some extra delay. Is that the case?

  • Hi Roel,

No. The latency through the PHY is not affected by the enhanced mac support feature. We do not buffer the packet like a switch would.
