DP83822I: Difference in ping response due to change in LED operation mode

Part Number: DP83822I

Dear all,

I would like to ask about LED operation mode.

Currently our customers are evaluating DP83822IRHBR.

They want to change the behavior of LED_0 to "ON when linking, blinking when communicating (Transmitter or Receiver is active)",

so they have changed from the default setting (Mode1 for LED_0) to Mode2 for LED_0.

When they set BIT5 of PHYCR to 0, the LED works as set, but when doing ping, it takes longer to respond compared to Mode1 of LED_0.

PHYCR.BIT5 =1(default)  About 0.1ms for ping response (when LED_0 is Mode1)

PHYCR.BIT5 = 0  About 100ms for ping response (when LED_0 is Mode 2)

As a precaution, I set LED_CFG in Strap and set Mode 2 of LED_0, but in this case, the ping response is 100ms.

Is there any difference in the response speed of ping due to the change of MODE of LED_0?
Also, if there are any conceivable factors, would you please tell me?
Is there any way to change the MODE of LED_0 without slowing down the ping response?

Best Regards,

Y.Ottey
