Hi Kato-san,
Yes, the block write/read is supported on the DS80PCI402. Customer should first burst read all the registers and only modify write to the address registers that are known. They should not change the registers that are not shown in the datasheet because these are "reserved" for internal use.

Michael - san,
Thank you for the replay.
I understand DS80PCI402 has block write/read mode.
How do we change 1B access mode to block write/read mode?
Best Regards,
Kato
Hi Kato-san,
Please refer to the SMBus 2.0 specification, section 5.5.7 for the detail information. www.smbus.org/specs/smbus20.pdf
The block write/read is writing or reading consecutive bytes of data without host having to resend the address byte(s) and stop bit repeatedly.

Michael
Hi Kato-san,
Q1 - Yes the "command code" would be the address of the register.
Q2 - The device can distinguish the Data Byte and Byte Count by the stop bit that the master sends. For the Byte Write, there are 3 bytes then the master sends the stop "P" bit. For Block Write there more than 3 bytes and the 3rd byte is the "byte count", then follows with the N data bytes and then sends stop bit.

Michael
