"SN65DSI83" MIPI to LVDS bridge IC for LCD display

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI83

Hi

We plan to use "SN65DSI83" MIPI to LVDS bridge IC for KOE LCD Display "TX18D204VM0BAA" ?

The LCD display datasheet attached for  the reference.

Kindly please share us the any specific design guidelines while connecting "SN65DSI83" IC to LVDS display.

Also Please help me with clarification on the following:

1. Will there be any software driver support needed for the MIPI-to-LVDS bridge? Is the software driver provided?

2. Will the MIPI-to-LVDS bridge support Command mode operation and DCS parsing in MIPI DSI? How will it be tested on the LVDS panel?

3. Do we need to consider any driver related function while converting MIPI to LVDS signals? Will you support driver for "SN65DSI83"?

Your immediate response will be highly appreciated

  • Hello Prakash,

Please, refer to the link below for details on the Hardware Implementation:

Under request, we can provide a sample code that we use in Linux for OMAP to configure the DSI8x, this code executes the initial setup for the DSI8x device,  we use a function to configure the DSI8x registers, this routine creates a I2C_ client structure to configure the device registers from OMAP processor (this is only a sample code, the customer needs to modify the values in the code to match the required resolution, video format, etc… ).

This sample code can be used to configure the DSi8x devices from Linux and you also can explain to the customer that the DSI interface is fully supported on the OMAP mainline Linux kernel in the following address:

Command mode is not supported by the SN65DSI83/84/85.

The DSI83 does not support the DSI Virtual Channel capability or reverse direction (peripheral to processor) transmissions.

  • Hi,

Do you have any MIPI to LVDS bridge chip with DSI/DBI support?
Existing SN65DSI83 chip supports only DSI.
  • Unfortunately, at this point, we do not have such bridge solution.
