What are the default settings for the TRSF3232E chip?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRSF3232E, TRS3232E

Hi,

We are trying to connect to a newly developed hardware module that has a TRSF3232E chip on it.

We can see data coming from the tx side but The computer screen on the serial port side reads non-sense.

What is the default setting for this chip?  Baud rate, Parity,  data butsm stop bits etc.

We tried a lot of different combinations and always get non sense.  The signal levels look good and the shortest bit width on the scope looks like 200k (5 usecs).

Thanks,

Elaine

This information is not in the chips data sheet.

  • Elaine,

The TRS3232E is just a voltage translator between RS232 and logic level signals; it doesn't control the data stream sent. The UART which is a on a different chip sets the data stream format. If the RS232 voltage level form the TRS34232E looks good then the TRS3232E did its job.

If shortest bit is about 5uS then 19.2kbps is the correct choice to use.
