SN65HVD72 without power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD72

Dear all,

Could you teach about following of SN65HVD72.

If there are RS485 signal input without power supply, what is happen at this device.

Will this device be broken? Will indefinite signal happen at output?

Or...Nothing will happen?

Best regards,

  • Hi Yamamoto-san,

The SN65HVD72 is designed so that the RS-485 bus pins (A and B) are high impedance when the device is powered down (VCC = 0 V). You can tell this by looking at the bus input current specs, which are between -100 uA and +150 uA when VCC is 0 V (or when the driver is disabled). This means that the RS-485 input signal will not have any effect on the device and that the device will not have any effect on the RS-485 bus.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,
    Max
