TPS65982: Bit assignments of Active PDO status register(0x34)

Part Number: TPS65982

Hi Team,

My customer would like to decode Active PDO status register value by EC to indicate that information on monitor. But that part of explanation is too poor to understand how to decode the value.

Could you provide more specific table or something to understand the assignments?

I tried to analyze that by comparing the actual read value and the GUI display but I couldn't.
More information is necessary to analyze completely.

Actual read value : 0x2600002d12cL

Although there is table explaining bits assignment in Host Interface Technical Reference Manual as below.
Honestly, it's impossible to decode the read value from by this documents.

  • Hi Onawa-san,

You can open the template files from the application customization tool with a text editor. In there we have an example of how register 0x34 is decoded to be read back by the user. The template files will be saved on your C drive in the same folder where you installed the application customization tool.

    Thank you,
    Eric
  • Hi Eric-san,

I try to read the template program but I didn't find the code regarding 0x34 register in it. 0x34 is read only register, so I think the app customization tool doesn't have to touch its decoding. Is it really existed in the file?

Could you tell me the line number of the code regarding 0x34 register if possible?

By the way, I can read only applied voltage and current value by using the table below indicated in PD specification.

(Refer from "Universal Serial Bus Power Delivery Specification Rev2.0  Ver1.3")

PDO should also have some information below. which register should we need to accessed in order to acquire the following information?

    Supply type
    Dual-Role Power
    USB Suspend Supported
    Unconstrained Power
    USB Communications Capable
    Dual-Role Data
    Peak Current

  • Hi Eric-san,

Could you give me any comments on this?

  • Hi Onawa-san

Were you able to decode 0x34?

the bits you mention above are found in source capabilities register 0x32...let me know if you still need help.
