TXB0106: TXB0106

Part Number: TXB0106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0304, TXB0302

Hi All,

I am using the TXB0106 Voltage level translator to interface with LE910 module.

I have a query on the VOL and VOH levels of the translator.

For more understanding, I am attaching the Image over here

I am supplying VCCA = 1.8V and VCCB = 3.3V.

As you can see from the above Image VOLA =0.4V (max) @ –40°C to 85°C but my module LE910 can accept max 0.35V. Is it work or Creates any problem @ 0°C to 50°C?? What is the value of VOLA max @ 0°C to 50°C ??

Same for the VOHA = 1.4V min @ –40°C to 85°C but my module LE910 can accept min 1.5V. Is it work or Creates any problem @ 0°C to 50°C?? What is the value of VOLH min @ 0°C to 50°C ??

  • The LE910 outputs can supply only 1 mA, while the TXB inputs require at least 2 mA.

Do you really need a bidirectional translator with automatic direction sensing? How many signals in each direction are you using? Can't you use a unidirectional or direction-controlled translator?

  • Thanks Clemens !
Yes ,I need a bidirectional translator with automatic direction sensing.
I am using 5 signals in each direction.
I do not want to use hardware configuration setting on the board for the direction choose and also the lack of space on the board i can not use the unidirectional controlled translator.
  • Karan ,

with the space constraint and the need for automatic direction sensing requirement , your option narrows down to TXB or TXS devices.
I wouldnt suggest LSF because of the need for external pullup resistors required for biasing and translation.
TXB has a weak drive and cannot drive large cap loads > 70pf. The spec table given for Voh could have been better defined for each specific voltages, however , we have to go by the worst case given. the worst case given is across the PVT corner cases and the nominal devices will perform much better than the mentioned specs.
The requirement for 2mA drive strength for the driver is to effectively switch the state overcoming the internal 4k resistor of the TXB.
  • Thank You, Shreyas.

Could you please let me know the Drive strength requires the TXSxxx series driver ??

  • Please suggest the suitable Voltage level translator either bidirectionalor or Unidirectional.
  • Karan ,

I have filtered the list of bidirectional and unidirectional translation devices here.

You might consider using TXB0304 and TXB0302 which supports lower Vol and higher Voh. However, it requires stronger drive strength to be able to switch the direction too.

please let me know what you decide on.
