TXS0104E: TXS0104 low end operation, TXS0108 operates as low as 1.2V.

Part Number: TXS0104E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0108E

The TXS0104 datasheet shows valid usage down to 1.65V, where the TXS0108 shows usage down to 1.2V.

Is there a particular problem with using the TXS0104 at 1.2V or just an oversight in the documentation?

We have the TXS0104 level shifting on a number of boards operating at 1.2V without any functional failures, so we would prefer to not make any changes.

TI please advise.

  • Hi Rick,
There isn't a specific problem that I know of for operating the TXS0104E at 1.2V, however we can only guarantee operation within the datasheet specs. The vast majority of standard logic and translation devices will continue to operate below or above the datasheet specs.

These two devices are built on the same process, so electrically there really isn't much difference for the most part, however the designs were done about a year apart, so there might be some improvements in the TXS0108E's functional design that allowed for the improved spec.
