SN74LVC1G14: operating temperature 85 or 125

Hi Expert,

In datasheet, the operating temperature is specified as 85 degree.

However, in the website of sample, the temperature is -40 to 125. Why the same device has different operating temperature? In what case, the operating temperature is 125?

Hi Zhou,

The different packages of the device have different thermal performances. We recommend the max free-air operating temperature of 85 C because we can't guarantee proper operation over that temp.

So the -40 to 125 is not the device operation temperature? It is only the package temperature?

Zhou,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I see that the packaging page lists 125C for all packages but the Ta is 85C in the device datasheet.
There was a temp extension project done to on this device, but it seems that the limits and datasheet spec has not been updated.

Let me confirm with the product engineering team about this and get back to you.

ON-Semi shows full temperature up to 125C, in datasheet our device shows 85C. It is confusing.

Zhou,

Many of our product engineering support team have gone on vacation currently, and hence the response is getting delayed.

I believe that the Ta needs to be 125C, and this includes changing the datasheet spec as well, but I need to confirm it from the PE team first.

Hi Zhou,

I confirmed with the PE team that the LVC1G14 device supports 125C Ta operation except the BGA package.
will update the datasheet to reflect the same.
