RM48L952ZWT and ETM and EMIF conflict?

Hello,

We were reviewing schematic for HDK and found the following exerpt:

The Terminal functions as defined in SPNS177B indicates that for several of these pins EMIF and ETM are multiplexed. Is this the case, or does ETM have capabilities of hooking into EMIF? I ask because my understanding that the terminals should have a single purpose only. The schematic indicates they have a dual purpose at any point in time.

This is a bit of a 'cheat' ... there is a jumper that disables the SDRAM and you should have this jumper applied when doing ETM > 23 data pins to avoid a conflict. It's a bit of a 'cheat' given that we did it to avoid yet another CBT switch on an already dense board.

If we only have ETM_DATA[7:0], would the MIPI connector for ETM be a "No Connect" for the rest of the other lines?

Ubaid,
Do you mean the MIPI connector on your board, or on the HDK? On the HDK you have to put in the SDRAM disable jumper.

You could go either way then, do like we do on the HDK or drop the pins.

Safer to drop the pins but I think you might wind up disappointed with the trace results when you only have an 8 bit trace port.
You'll definitely need to apply a lot of careful filtering and especially on what data is to be traced. I haven't tried this config myself,
but the 19 pin ETM config on the 330MHz CPU still has fifo overflows if you try to just trace everything.
