Importing Example DRV8301_TMS570LS31_BLDC in CC for edit wirth Gui Composer View

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, MOTORWARE, CCSTUDIO

I tried to show the example gui webapps/ DRV8301_TMS570LS31_BLDC with the guiComposer view in CCS, but the app.html cannot be shown in the buildin browser, it keeps "loading".

I have copied the files in the ...\workspace_v5_3\.guiComposerWS. Maybe it does not work because there is no settings folder in the example folder. So how can i get this webapp to show properly in the Guicomposer view? In a browser the html files work, although some things arent shown correctly. When i press the run button in the guicomposer view the app.html is shown, but also not correctly.

The DRV8301_TMS570LS31_BLDC folder is in ...\workspace_v5_3\.guiComposerWS\

windows 7 64-bit, SP1

  • Hi,

    Your post is being moved to the Hercules Safety Microcontroller forum, where they are knowledgeable about the GUI.

    Also, please read the post LINK whick may have some of the information you are looking for.

  • Hi,

    I'm not sure if we might have enough info to support this.

    Nevertheless I will check with our Motor control experts to see if they have come across this issue earlier.

  • Hi,

    it would be very nice if someone could provide me with a solution to my problem.
    I just want to make some minor changes to the example GUI. It should be possible, because I know other have suceeded.

    I have tried on another computer with same result. So there seems to be a trick to make the guicomposer correctly open the web files!? Is this a compatibility problem?

    In the web files there are some references:

    @import "lib/dojo/dijit/themes/claro/claro.css";
    @import "lib/dojo/dojo/resources/dojo.css";
    @import "lib/gc/dijit/libs/css/zdialog/zebra_dialog.css";
    @import "lib/gc/dijit/libs/css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui.css";
    @import "lib/gc/dijit/libs/css/jquery.jqplot.css";

    ......

    <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/gc/dijit/libs/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/gc/dijit/libs/jquery.jqplot.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="lib/gc/dijit/libs/plugins/jqplot.cursor.min.js"></script>

    But I have no lib folder ?! Is this the cause?

    If I dobble click on Main_UI_BLDC only one gauge and a textbox is dispalyed.
    I am not able to make changes. If I press preview, the page is shown incorrect
    with misplaced elements . The page is doubled side by side.

    Please direct my problem to someone with knowledge about the BLDC example. There has to be someone who knows this. It shouldnt be that difficult to open existing files with guicomposer!

    Thanks.
  • user4458346,

    are you trying this with CCS6? I think Gui Composer was overhauled and it broke one of the motor kits.
    there's another colleague of ours that was working on getting it migrated.
  • Hi User4458346,

    our expert on the motor kit wasn't in the office today but he replied by email

    "There is a document buried deep in the Motorware folder structure that explains how to copy the relevant folders to the C:\ti\guicomposer\webapps folder so that the demo project can be executed from this folder. Also, the latest version of guicomposer is not compatible with this demo project. The customer has to install the gui composer version that cones on the dvd shipped with the kit."

    I think the PDF is "motorware_1_01_00_15\docs\guis\universal\qsg_gui_universal.pdf" but not 100% sure.

    There are older versions of GUI composer archived here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Category:GUI_Composer

    Hope that helps a little.
  • Hi,

    I am using CCS 5.3.0. I want to run the GUI in the CCStudio IDE.

    I zipped the folder as described in the pdf and imported it. But when I try to open a .html file

    the Guicomposer keeps "Loading". I also tried on a Laptop Win7 Professional SP1.

    Anyone knows what this is?

  • Hi,

    is the BLDC example available for the new Gui Composer now?
  • I reinstalled CCS and Gui Composer from the DVD, but Gui Composer still cannot open the BLDC example! Please help!
  • Hi user4458346,

    I don't actually have an original DVD. I know the GUI composer 'gui' that ships on the kit is not able to be exported into current CCS / GUI composer and even the 5.3.x GUI composer which is the oldest edition you can download has problems with what is downloadable in the motorware online.

    The best I can recommend is to try to get the motor spinning by writing to the expressions in the expression / watch window. these are the same state variables that the GUI manipulates anyway..

    Best Regards,
    Anthony
  • Hi,

    very funny!

    I have spent days with reinstalling, exporting, error circumvention and trying out combinations of software versions. The result is, that there is no solution to my problem. And I cannot make a new GUI, because of bugs in the exported files and/or because the GUI Composer does not want to run the new GUI in combination with the out file from the bldc example.
    Gui Composer Version 1.0.7 can run the GUI but not the bldc example.
    Gui Composer Version 1.0.6 can run the bldc example but not the GUI.
    So in essence I cannot make a GUI work with BLDC. It is not satisfactory to run the Motor in the debugger.

    I expect more than these answers. I expect a bugfix.

  • Hi user4458346,

    Realize this is a disappointing answer but we do not have anyone working on an update.
    Apparently the DVD that shipped with the kit had a coherent snapshot of things that worked together, so please try
    using that DVD version without updating.

  • Hello,

    you maybe did not understand my problem. If I can use the DVD without updates this is fine enough. But I cannot use Gui Composer to make a new GUI.

    The software on the DVD has bugs.This is not satisfactory.

  • Hi user4458346,

    Yes understood. Unfortunately I can't do anything about that situation in the short term other than to help work through specific issues.
    You can message me privately if you want to talk about possible alternatives.

    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Anthony
