RM48L952

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REG1117, AM4379

i am trying to optimize the RM48 HDK with the bench marking of schematic of RM48L952ZWT package HDK. i am replacing ZWT package with PGE. is it advisable. did the same IC in RM48L952ZWT HDK applicable for PGE package also?

  • There is a lot of functionality on the RM48x MCUs that is only available on the ZWT package (EMIF, ETM, RTP, DMM). There are also other functions available on the ZWT package which would normally be multiplexed functions on the PGE package.

I do not understand the second question clearly. The same IC can be packaged into either the ZWT or the PGE package.
  • Thank you Mr. Sunil Oak. i am not using EMIF, EMT,RTP,DMM options. i am using only HET,ADC and SCI and USB type B in my project. i had removed all other ports in my design. there are many integrated ckts in RM48L952ZWT (for eg: TPS73701DRB, REG1117,etc). may i use the same ICs to design my own controller board.

    thanks and regards

  • Manjunathan,

Yes, you can use the RM48 HDK design as a reference for your own PCB. You may need to include other considerations if you have any specific safety standard to conform to.

    Sunil
  • As the controller is specified for Medical application. I am directly using the module. we are yet to look after the standards after the discussion with our industry partner.
  • Just to clarify,

"I am directly using the module",

Want to make sure this doesn't mean that you are embedding the HDK into a product, the EVM terms and conditions doc www.ti.com/.../sszz027j.pdf doesn't allow for this; and more importantly the board hasn't been designed as a "SOM" to be used in an end product. It's a development board. Section 1 of the terms and conditions explains this.

The RM46 device is a different story - assuming it's on a board that you design specifically for an end product - that's ok.
  • Thank you Mr Anthony F. Seely. Actually i am not using the RM48HDK as a major control unit. in my end product am integrating the controller with SOM AM4379. RM48 is a part of my end product.  and later in my end product i will optimize the EVM for my end product. is it advaisable.
