TMS570LS3137-EP: Silicon Changes from Previous Device Revision

Expert 1995 points
Part Number: TMS570LS3137-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137,

Hello,

The revision D of the MCU exposes all the Errata that have been fixed from rev C of the device to the current revision D. Well, why does not this section appear in the rev C as well (as errata fixed from B to C) ? Where can I find the list of errata that has been fixed during the migration to rev C?

PS: I am pointing out that revision instead of the current rev D, since it seems that the enhanced version of the TMS570LS3137 exists only with the rev C of the device (or at least as it is shown in the quality and packaging tab.

Thanks ahead for a reply.

Regards,

Marco

  • Marco,
Rev B silicon was never released as an EP device.

I will check with safeti team to see if a list has been compliled that shows the B to C changes.

    Wade
  • Marco, the errata changes prior to rev C are not available as they are not supported in production.
Only the devices that are available in production have errata documents published. Is there a reason you need rev B to rev C errata changes?

    Wade
  • Hello Wade,

Thank you very much to have got that information for me.

Yes, there is. We are considering to use the EP model for certification purposes. To achieve that successfully, the authority wants that the applicant shows evidence that the rate of occurrence of new device errata from the component manufacturer decreases as function of time. They think this criterion would reflect the level of maturity of the component.

I have in front of me the first Silicon Errata document SPNZ181A from a previous evaluation of the MCU (the distributor stored the document at that time); It shows ca 50 errata. The Silicon Revision C (spnz195g) shows ca 60 errata (!), while the Silicon Revision D (spnz222b), through the § Silicon Changes from Previous Device Revision, shows 54 errata only, thanks to the fix of 5 errata.

Can you provide me data which show at least from B to C the number of errata decreased or anything showing the above mentioned evidence for the authority?

    Thanks ahead & regards,

    Marco

  • Marco,

The document you found SPNZ181A, and the current Rev C SPNZ195G are the most accurate data available for representing the errata to each respective silicon revision.

I do not have the history of changes made to silicon for for B to C.

Hopefully these two documents are sufficient for your analysis.

    Wade

  • Thank you, Wade. I will discuss with my team about this. In the meanwhile, can you please confirm me that TMS570LS3137-EP is available only as rev C instead of D (despite the non-EP) ? Just to exclude a missed update on the webpage. Thanks ahead.

    -Marco

  • I can confirm the EP version is only available as Rev C.

    Wade
  • Hello Wade. The Silicon Revision C has been reviewed from Feb 2013 to May 2016. Would it be possible having the revisions from A to G of the Silicon C or the history of the bugs were published in those revisions?
  • Marco,
I will send you each revision via email shortly.
