MSP-EXP430F5529LP driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529

Hey guys.

I'm sorry if this has been addressed / solved elsewhere but I have not seen it / found it. I purchased 2x MSP430F5529 launch pad boards from digikey. Windows can not find the driver for both of them. I am running windows 7 64 bit and I get unknown devices on both of them.

USB\VID_0451&PID_2046&REV_0125

USB\VID_0451&PID_2046

From what I can find this seems like the hub is not enumerating correctly.

Thanks everyone!

  • Go figure they enumerated on a Windows Vista 32 bit OS PC....

  • http://ti.com/lpdrivers The drivers for all of the LaunchPads can be found at that url download. Joe

Thank you for your reply. Windows still can not find the driver when I point it to the folder where I extracted the file. I went thru all of the .inf files and none of the PIDs matched.

    PID_2046&REV_0125

    PID_2046

Both of those are in the Hardware IDs.

I even used notepad++ search the folder for 2046 and only found it on one line

    \par 1.00.2046 (Mar 15, 2000)

This should be the USB HUB which should require NO special driver. On the Windows Vista 32 bit PC it enumerated fully and the mass storage popped up. (Granted I needed to plug it into a USB 2 hub instead of a USB 3 hub because it does not like full speed devices)

  • Can you please post a screenshot of your device manager and the error that appears in the Device Status of the device under the general tab?

Also, are you going to use Code Composer Studio with the device?

  • Yes I was going to use Code Composer. It is installed on both PCs. I had a coworker plug it into his windows 7 64 PC and it enumerated the hub and mass storage devices as it should but on mine it wont enumerate the hub so it doesn't get any further.

  • I can't see your screenshot.

    Can you upload it again?

  • The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

  • Unplug the MSP430F5529LP.

Then download and unzip the file below.

    http://energia.nu/files/TUSBWINCDC_ALL.zip

    Then run DPInst64.exe.

After a successful installation, try plugging the MSP430 back in to see if this fixes the problem.

If it does not, try a different speed USB port.

  • It didn't change anything, Im pretty sure I downloaded them before and tried this.

Those drivers are for the MSP. The thing that is not enumerating is the USB hub. It should be a generic usb hub but windows is not seeing it as that. This is something that should be totally transparent and windows is not enumerating the hub and does not even start to see the MSP or EZ FET.

  • Can you please:

    1. Open the registry editor
    2. Go to HKLM->SYSTEM->ControlSet001->Enum->USB
    3. Export the VID_0451&PID_2046 Key
    4. Post it on here.

I want to take a look at it and compare it to mine.

  • Joe

  • Hi,
I met the same problem. Did you resolve this issue?

    Best regards.
    Kaka
  • Kaka

Unfortunately in my case it took a reinstall of windows. Some how my windows USB drivers stopped seeing USB hubs. My PC even stopped seeing a USB 3 hub that I had plugged in.

Beyond that there is a driver needed for the USB to serial but the hub should just work out of the box.

Sorry you are having the same problem.

    Paul
