MSP430 compiler __builtin function list?

Hello, I must not be looking in the correct area in this forum or the TI wiki. Can you please give me a hint on where I can find the MSP430 CCSv5 compiler's __builtin function list? I am looking for things like __builtin_clz, and a way to count the number of high bits in an unsigned long long variable.

A good place to look for those things is the compiler manual.

The name of those functions is ‘intrinsics’.
Also, there is a file ‘intrinsics.h’, which defines aliases for some of them, to provide compatibility between compilers.

Are you using the TI MSP430 compiler, or the GNU MSP430 compiler?

__builtin_clz looks to be only for the GNU compiler - see https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Other-Builtins.html for some general GNU documentation.

MDP430 compiler. I thought it would be superior to the gcc compiler. Is there an assembly manual for "count 1 bits in 64 bit"? I would guess I have to break it up to 4 16-bits and try to use "count 1 bits", at which point the merit of using a the assembly drops off rapidly, but still curious what the syntax is...
