Hello, I have a board with an MSP430F5348A. I want to use the UART of one of its USCI modules and stream data to my PC. I know I need a UART-to-USB converter, and I see that the 5969 Launchpad board has the Rx and Tx pins broken out to headers currently connected by a jumper. However, if i removed the jumper and connected my 5438A UART pins to the EZFET UART-to-USB side of the jumper, then I could just use its UART-to-USB feature to talk to a PC.
The only problem is that I noticed the CTS and RTS handshaking pins also broken out to headers and apparently are necessary to use the UART-to-USB EZFET. My question is, do I have to use these pins? Can I just use the Rx and Tx pins of the EZFET and connect them to my 5438A USCI UART pins and then be able to transmit data over the USB to the PC?
