I am using CCSV5.5 on Windows 7 to create software for MSP430F5528.

I have two MSP-FET430UIF interface boxes. One works correctly, one does not.

The working correctly box appears in Device Manager as "MSP-FET430UIF (COM 16)"

The not working correctly box appears in Device Manager as "TUSB 3410 Device (COM 14)". Previously this box worked correctly. I do not understand how the box has come to not work.

Is there a way to reprogram the box to be a MSP-FET430UIF once again?

I note MSP-FET430UIF is now replaced by MSP-FET as stated at link www.ti.com/.../MSP-FET430UIF

Is the new MSP-FET compatible with CCSV5.5?

Hi Michael,
It sounds like you may need to upgrade the firmware on your fet. See: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../MSPDS_Debugger_Up-_and_Downgrade

Also, the MSP-FET is compatible with CCS5, Lina give steps on how to use it in this thread: e2e.ti.com/.../1568180

Hi Cameron,

You may close this thread. I've given up on fixing this MSP-FET430UIF. Apparently it has suffered some hardware or software problem causing it to register itself as TUSB 3410 Device (COM 14) rather than the expected MSP-FET430UIF (COM 16). The answers you give above assume a MSP-FET430UIF (COM 16) registration and fail when TUSB is registered. I took the other approach which was to locate some MSP-FET430UIF on EBay and purchase a replacement.

I'm sorry I couldn't fix it. Have found a number of other threads mentioning similar behavior. A forum member mentions that an updater exists, but not it's location. I'm working on locating this, so dont throw your old one away. There may still be hope for it! :-)

Hi Cameron,

Thanks for mail! The bad MSP-FET430UIF was in the electronic recycle and going out today. I fished it back and will await hearing from you. This is not a big thing since the replacements are working well.

It seems like somehow the device became wiped, but the hardware shoule be fine. There are one thing we we thing we can try (if you haven't already), download and install FET-Pro430 Lite (Lite is free, STD is paid), from www.elprotronic.com/productdata. In the "Tool's" menu, try clicking the MSP430-FETUIF / MSP-FET Firmware Update (2nd otipn down, not the V2/V3 conversion options). This may catch the TUSB.

If that doesn't work, I've been made aware of another option, but I will have to get the tool's location from a member of our Freising team. I will let you know once I have it.

Downloaded software and tried as you instructed with the "TUSB" MSP-FET430UIF. No luck. I've placed a screen shot of software response below.
