I am using MSP430FR5969 device.

There are few applications coming with the device, and I am running 430-BOOST-SHARP96_ULP_FRAM example.

I can see application is getting voltage from battery, but I can not understand which point application is getting.

My question is,

1. which exact point the appllication is getting voltage.

2. Can I get both remained energy(2) in capacitor and external supply(1) energy? (I attached the figure below)

You are referring to a 100 mF super cap, not an actual battery or source, so current will flow from the external source to charge the cap and then supply the system until it can no longer do so, at which point the super cap will be drained. The battery will supply power first followed by the super cap.

I am wondering if I set the J2 jumper to the bypass so there is no use of super cap,

Then device would not get the voltage from super cap, then where the application refers the voltage from?

I attached pictures of ADC, and it said internal ADC input (battery monitor) is included..

I would like to know the source of this battery monitor.. where is this battery monitor connected to?

The voltage would have to be supplied by the debugger or external power supply, selected by J10 or by applying voltage to the VCC pin of J1 or J4. If the ADC12BATMAP bit is set then the ADC internal AVCC/2 channel is selected for ADC input channel A31, this is covered by Section 28.3.4 of the User's Guide.

Thank you for the kind reply.

I have one more question about capacitor in this board.

Is it possible to charge and discharge simultaneously?

I mean while I am running an application , is it possible to charge capacitor?
Or when I am running an application, capacitor is discharged and if the capacity is not sufficient enough to run application, application stops and charging sequence is running?

Can you tell me the number of user's guide?

I am looking "SLAS704F" and "SLAU535B" but I can not find the section 28.3.4.

Hello Mirae,

If an external power supply is connected then the capacitor will be charged, otherwise the capacitor will be discharged to power the application. The MCU/application will stop if the capacitor has been drained to the point where it can no longer provide sufficient power. I was referring to the FR5xx/6xx User's Guide, SLAU367: www.ti.com/.../slau367m.pdf
