Hello,
I think my MSP-FET430UIF is not pass the selftest, the leds combination red, red, red, green reapets all the time,
there is no target connected to the MSP-FET430UIF.
Can I do anything at home to fix it?
I would. But I am a little "strange". I still have the parts of my fathers pocket watch which I took apart some 65 years ago. My father tolled me to keep those parts where ever I go and keep trying to put them together.
Anyway, the JTAG fuse of MSP-FET430UIF is not blown. So you can hock up another FET tool to the defective one as a "target" and "debug" it.
Hi,
you can try to re-program the MSP-FET430UIF firmware.
Visit http://www.elprotronic.com/download.html and download FET-Pro430 Lite software (it's free!). Install on your machine and try to update the FET firmware.
Kind regards

Hello,
thank you for the answers,
I have fixed the problem, it seem that there was a problem with the USB cable. I tried another one and the MSP-FET430UIF works now.
With the old cable I could not read the firmware version or change it with elprotronic fet-pro430.
The defect USB cable works OK with other hardware (external hard disk). Strange.
It's possible that the defective cable has a problem with the power lines. The FET is powered through the USB port, and needs to use >100mA if it shall source the target too. This current may cause the 5V to break down to something below what the FET can use.Andrzej Swierc said:The defect USB cable works OK with other hardware (external hard disk).
I had two MSP-FET430UIF, that stopped working with different errors. One device returned an error that said something like "Can't set CPU voltage," and the other would say something generic like "Can't program device," or "Device not found." Using Lite FET-PRO430 and the "Firmware Upgrade V2 -> V3" command and then letting the CCS IDE upgrade the firmware solved the problems and they both now work again.
We have two MSP-FET430UIF debuggers.
One Debugger is working fine.
But on Same PC another debugger is continiously requesting for Driver Update.
what could be the problem and how i can reslove it
Thanks and Regards,
Naveen Kumar
