TPS23754: Valid reference design

Guru 16770 points
Part Number: TPS23754

Hi

Our customer is looking for reference design using TPS23754 supporting the following specification.

Adapter input : 48V

Output : 5V / 6A

Efficiency : Over 90%

Between adapter and 5Vout to be isolated.

5V/6A is achieved by 48Vin from adapter.

Do you have suitable reference design?

BestRegards

  • Hello again na na78.  Nice to hear from you.

A 5V / 6A design would actually equate to a 30W design - which is beyond the IEEE802.3at complaint power limit of 25W.  Are you interested in achieving IEEE802.3bt readiness and designing an official Class 5 design?  Our recently released TPS2373-3 sounds like it would be a good fit for your need.

If really wanting to stay with the TPS23754, you could start from the TI Design --> .  It is 5V / 5A and meets some of your other stated criteria.  You could also compliment this design with the attached current booster circuitry to achieve your desired 30W with the TPS23754.  This circuit allows for you to pass SIFOs compliance testing for IEEE802.3at and reach 30W.

However, if wanting to be compliant to the upcoming standard at 30W, we would suggest something different.

Please let me know if wanting to discuss other options or if this is enough to keep your design moving.

  • Hi Thomas

    Thank you for your reply.

The following might be close to our supposition.

Because It can offer 25W output from PoE but 30W output from adapter.

If it could be possible to meet our requirement with minor change of EVM, I think it would be easier way.

    Can I hear your view?

  • na na 78,

After a quick discussion with my Application Engineer, I think I have found a better starting point/reference design for you to consider.

May I friend you and private message you this design?
  • Hi Thomas

    Thank you for your support.

And Yes! I accepted your request.

    BestRegards
  • na na 78,

I have sent you a private message.

Let me know if having any questions.

    Thanks for your consideration,
  • Hi Thomas
