Hi,

I notice in the vision SDK 3.05 release notes, for the "Major New Features in the Release", there is "GST Video encode and decode support on VSDK Linux". I wonder how the features can be properly validated and used? Especially we care about the GST encode capability. please kindly indicate some reference to us. Thanks!

Hi Simon,

can you check chapter "4.4 IPUMM based decode use-case using GStreamer" in VisionSDK_Linux_UserGuide.pdf and chapter "1.3.4.13. Test Suite : GSTSupport" in ProcessorSDK_Vision_TDA2xx_Test_Detailed_Report.pdf.

You also should be able to create your pipelines with "gst-launch-1.0" command.

Hi Simon,
What is your usecase? If you are planning to do capture->encode, Gstreamer is not going to work with visionSDK.
V4l2src can not be used here as VIP is controlled from M4.
Recommendation is to use existing link-chain usecase to capture and encode.

Thanks for your clarification, if I don't use V4L2src but some intermediate video buffer, how can I make use of GST encode.

Hi Simon,
In that case, you will have to develop a gstreamer plugin which acts as a pseudo source plugin for your intermediate buffers and pumps these video buffers to ducati encoder plugin.
Make sure the video is NV12 format as ducati encoder supports only NV12 format.

Hi Simon,
Gstreamer opensource plugin "videotestsrc" is already available in the filesystem to test a pipeline. This plugin generates raw video of required format and can be fed to an encoder.

You can try if this pipeline works
gst-launch-1.0 videotestsrc num-buffers=100 ! 'video/x-raw, format=(string)NV12, width=(int)640, height=(int)480' ! ducatih264enc ! h264parse ! filesink location=output.h264

You can take videotestsrc as a reference, this plugin belongs to gstremaer-base package. You need yocto filesystem from PSDKLA3.04
to modify and build gstreamer plugins.

Can you let me know where these intermediate buffers are coming from?

Hi Ram,

Thanks for your nice support. we will try the pipeline. Some vision sdk application will tile the images from srv cameras into one buffer, and gstreamer is employed to encode the buffer.

Hi Simon,
Understood. In this case you need a mechanism to get stitched vision-sdk buffers to Linux(A15) first and a gstreamer plugin
which sends this buffer to ducati encoder plugin.
