Using CC1101 as UHF RFID reader

We have worked on this type of project before and we have had some success. This is not a trivial design as the CC1101 is not capable of receiving the back-scatter while it is in transmit mode (the CC1101 is half duplex and RFID requires full duplex).

So to design this you have to have the CC1101 be the transmitter and then create a back scatter receiver using discrete RF systems devices (like mixers, filters and amplifiers)

What is your intent here? the software or the hardware or both? None of which are trivial.

My intent is to implement the entire reader system (hardware and software)  for a design project at school. So, will i need a coupler with isolation.?  And will it be possible two use two cc1101 (one as transmitter and one as receiver) instead of building a discrete component system for my receiver.

Are there any options available for designing just the software? I will not have enough time for designing the hardware using discrete components since the cc1101 cannot be used as a receiver.
