About VCO range of LMX2571

Hello,to whom it may concern,

The fvco is 4300MHz~5376MHz in the datasheet(p6).

But Approximate VCO Ranges is 4200MHz~5520MHz in the datasheet(p42).

Which is correct of p6 and p42?

Best regards,

Manabu Ito

  • Hi Manabu,

The Frequency range for the VCO is 4300MHz-5376MHz.

  • Hello Julian-san

    Thanks for your quick response!

    Sorry,I have one more question.
How should I understand about Approximate VCO Ranges?
    Is this value only advisoly?

    Best regards,

    Manabu Ito
  • Hi Manabu

Table 40 shows approximate VCO values. They may vary slightly in different devices.

While the table shows 4200-5520 MHz, the actual VCO frequency range has to be wider in order to guarantee VCO frequency range is between 4300M – 5376MHz.

We can only guarantee that the device will work on the  4300MHz-5376MHz range as shown in the Electrical Characteristics table.

    Thanks,

    Julian

  • Hi Julian,

when looking on the single VCOs, what would be a safe, guaranteed range? This information would be important for us because we will have a detailed design in which we want to choose VCOs directly.

    data sheet values:
VCO Core Typ. Freq. Range (MHz)
    VCOL: 4200-4700
    VCOM: 4560-5100
    VCOH: 4920-5520

Could this the be the safe range?
    VCOL 4300-4640
    VCOM 4640-5000
    VCOH 5000- 5375

Absolute values are necessary for us because the overlapping range of the VCOs result in different overall settings which must be calculated precisely.

    Thanks,
    Alex
