Why can we not view any original file source that REX downloaded and or download any individual file from the library without being forced un-install the entire SDK?

1. Why would anyone what to use REX to view a file already installed on their computer or part of a project already in CCS 9.2 IDE?

2. Why force the entire package be reinstalled in order to view the original source file should be on the cloud server?

Text on REX states we can down load the package but after selecting the package to down load he jumps back into the file folder tree on the left showing the exact same nonsense.

  • You should be able to "view" files both from downloaded packages and from those on the Cloud. When it comes to importing an example CCS project though, the package needs to be downloaded first before that can be done.

Could you elaborate a bit more on what you are observing?

If you could provide a specific example or screenshots that would greatly help us understand what you are seeing.

See only installed files c:\ti\c2000\sdk'''  same as project but not the expanded files of the package on the cloud server. Need to replace 1 specific file from the cloud folder drill down (left pane) to compare changes that are not in CCS revision history. Again we don't need to see local drive files unless they can be deleted and retrieved from the could server. Only need local view to install a single project solution folders. So view local file tree of unzipped solutions (\CCS\ .project) for install into CCS is the hinge pin stopping remote file view on the could server.

Recall CCS5.4 there was a dialog symbol to delete any installed single file, file delete no longer exists in REX file view pane.

REX will not allow to delete previous installed file or renamed original, REX pop up dialog box still states the entire package must be deleted and reinstalled.

How to retrieve or even view a single file from the could server installed package?

  • The functionality is a bit different between the cloud version (http://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore) and desktop version of Resource Explorer.

In the desktop version inside CCS, the left pane in REX can show multiple versions of a software package, both packages that have been downloaded/installed locally and those on the cloud. For example, in this screenshot I am seeing two versions of Digital Power SDK, the one with the green icon (version 1.03.00.00) means it is downloaded locally, while the version 3.00.00.00 is not.

To see multiple versions, you can go to the Package Manager (at the top right of the REX bar) and select multiple versions.

Now to view files in the package that is only on the Cloud, I can navigate through the tree and view files, as shown in screenshot below.

In the desktop version, you can only install/uninstall software at the package level, not download a single file from the package tree.

In the cloud version of REX, you can download single files.

    Hope this helps clarify.

I was not aware of the cloud version of REX existed. I use the one built into the CCS IDE. Oddly there is no link anywhere on the IDE verions of REX.

Thanks for such details, that should get the job done now.

  • Hi Atri,

Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction. I had no idea there was CCS cloud IDE and hope I can later export project to desktop IDE.

BTW: The older motor control suite is not included in the folder tree or preferences. I'd put it up there too as the new SDK (FOC) is buggy, has motor current control issues. I reviewed SDK version 3 (FOC) code and no fixes for several reported issues were included in the manifest.

Which specific version of SDK were you looking for? I do see a few older versions of the motor control SDK in Resource Explorer.
